I am a bit biased re files and being made in America. I prefer nicholson black diamond made in USA, but of course these are harder and harder to obtain. This unit is from Brazil and I must say it cuts very well. Single cut bastard 12 and it does remove the metal. I use it principally as intermediate grit in mower blade sharpening ... and I sharpen a lot of blades ... and so far I am impressed. Time will tell if the file holds up but at this time quite a pleasant value and performance.

Must have. Quickly sharpens my garden tools. Takes a lot of metal off fast. 12 is huge. I probably should have gotten an 8. Make sure you get the right sized handle!

This is a great file. Well worth the purchase price. Using it to sharpen axes and dress chainsaw bars. I'm sure it will work for anything that needs filing.

I use this to file the ends of copper and aluminum wire that I bend for plant trellises so that they're not so dangerously sharp. It works very well for my purpose.
