I have made hundreds of loaves of bread with red winter wheat berries. Tried making 3 batches of 6 loaves using this product and every one of them collapsed in the oven ( no, I did not open the oven door). Must be very old or the bag allows oxygen in to spoil the quality. Do not buy these berries for baking.

Really good stuff. Takes forever to cook excellent flavor, reminds me of corn in a way, same chewy mouth feel . Thought it expensive for wheat but quality costs.

I am very fond of these berries. I bought a small amount at a health food store just to try before I got this 3-pound bag I put them atop salads and add them to veggie sauts and stews in lieu of beans and or lentils. Because they take about 60 mins. to cook, I will cook plenty and freeze some as well. As a vegetarian I am always looking for different foodstuffs to add to my repertoire and wheat berries have been a nice addition.

From a part of westernmost Washington characterized by deep rich glacial soils, so the quality of the wheat for bread making or for other uses is superb. Happy to help small scale of farmers.

I use this winter wheat in my bread and it is so good! I grind it a bit in a coffee grinder along with some other grains.

This product is priced well among other brands. However when you compare the resulting flour (from any brand) to the price of store-bought flour it's far more expensive. You gain health benefits by grinding your own, but you are CERTAINLY not saving any money. You would think the raw wheat berries would be FAR cheaper, but this is the world we live in. /rant

I use these to grow sprouts and fodder for our backyard chickens. At first it took a week before anything sprouted, then someone in our online group suggested I soak these for 24 hours and rinse 2x a day. Pictures show the result on the 4th day. I didn't even have to expose these to direct sunlight. This brand was also recommended by another group member who use these as fodder (longer than 4 inches). I prefer to keep them under 4 inches to minimize molds and impacted crop. The chickens love them more than the lentil sprouts (in bug house).
