Makes very tasty gumbo and since the packages don't include rice, you can store leftover gumbo and eat it without having all the juice soaked up by rice (like Zatarain's).

I know there are a lot of hard core cooks who insist on making a roux and doing everything from scratch, but this stuff makes good tasting gumbo in a fraction of the time. I've used it several times now and it always results in a great tasting dish with a lot less effort.

Offers the opportunity to simplify making gumbo. The sometimes hard part of making a roux. It has far to much salt ... That makes it unusable for me.
