I have 12 of these in my house of various vintages, the oldest of which was manufactured in 2017. Oddly enough, the 2017 model has been the most reliable. Several of the other 7010B's have generated false alarms, often in the middle of the night. All of my units are linked together, so if one is triggered they all sound the alarm. This is a great feature to ensure nobody sleeps through an alarm, but when it's constantly false positives you start to get a little agitated. Mine went off again last night around midnight, and by the time I figured out which unit triggered the (false) alarm, I was so angry I chucked it off the ladder. Obviously, I'm heavily invested in this platform and it will cost me a grand to replace them all, so here I am buying another probably defective First Alert combo alarm while whining into the void about how terrible they perform. So it goes.

Bought in May and in September it starts randomly beeping for no reason. Malfunctioned!I've always used this unit in the past and will probably give it one more try.

I bought this detector to replace the battery detector in order to sell my house (hard wired detectors are now required in Oregon to sell your house). However it didn’t come with the screws or wire connectors. Otherwise it’s an ok smoke/carbon monoxide detector.

I use this model of the carbon monoxide/smoke detectors in areas that I would normally get false alarms. This particular unit doesn’t seem to put out as many false alarms so it works a lot better !!

This seems fine although it came with a piece of tape that read "false alarms". I haven't had any yet but I do think these are overpriced and should have an internal battery since their main power is electricity. Replacing 9 of these after 10 years is also a costly undertaking.

Had to replace all the detectors in my home and these have been great so far! Had no issues with install and they all came packaged wonderfully. Some of the detectors I've received from big box stores haven't worked or been defective. All of these worked right out of the box. Didn't have any issues with activation and they work great when I test them each month. Great product overall.

I have 12 units interconnected across the house. One unit went off and that triggered every other connected detector. There was no smoke or fire. I clean the units periodically with compressed air. After the first false alarm I cleaned all detectors. 10 days later the alarm went off again and this time a different unit triggered it. I’m looking for an alternative as these units are expensive but unreliable.

We have these in all our homes/rentals.

Have had a series of these since 2020. They are hardwired, in conjunction with the non-CO version of the alarm. We've been through many of them, maybe 8 or more. If you like getting false alarms, (we've had more than 20 in the last four years) then these are the alarms for you. I don't know what the 'battery low' chirp sounds like- never heard it. But in the dead of night at all months of the year, the whole house will light off with the sound of 6 alarms screaming about nothing. After ripping the actual offender off the ceiling in a stupor, which takes time, I tear the batteries out to reset it. When putting the batteries back in, they've always worked fine (I replace them all the same). I also inspect the sensors the next day, and there's never been dust or any of the other "you'll get false alarms if..." conditions listed. I clean them and put them back up, just to have them kick off again. Then they go into the trash. Why do I keep them? It was expensive to get them all installed and hard-wired, and competitors use different plugs, etc. At this point, I'd almost rather just unplug them all and rely on my own senses to know the house was burning down around me. Besides, we don't actually think there's really a fire in the house after all the false alarms. The cheapo battery-powered alarm that was in the house when we moved in has never given a false alarm despite being about a foot from one of the hardwired ones that does. It's on its second preventative set of batteries without ever having complained.

I didn't know there was such a thing in residental as having a hardwired smoke detector, until I pulled one down in the house and found 120VAC wiring. I just bought a 6 pack of battery powered ones. Well, drawing board. Found this, ordered this, installed it super easily; replacing the adapter ring and as mine was at a junction box, it was just a matter of loosening the screw and sliding this in place; then tighten it back up, then swapped the wiring easily as well, with the new wire nuts provided.Easy.Testing it, it's interesting hearing the lower pitch this goes off with. Every room has a detector so if the house actually does catch fire or have a CO issue, it'll be a harmony of concerns. One of the ratings item is 'accuracy' - not sure how to vote that one...lol...hope I never do!

I bought these because we were having issues with the smoke detectors going off randomly. It was happening so badly that we had to have the fire department come out to make sure there wasn't carbon monoxide or anything we were missing. While there they were able to let me know that the number of beeps that we hear for the detector can often times be informative for what the alert is about. There are also lights on the detector that can indicate if there is a problem or if it needs to be replaced (according to them).I replaced 2 of the detectors that we had like this and it was as easy as doing a hot swap. We haven't had any issues since then. The detectors that we replaced were from when the house was built in 2020 and I don't feel like they should have gone bad already which is why I docked this 1 star for durability.
