The First Alert BRK SLED177 is a hard-wired, LED strobe light designed to provide a visual warning of a fire or carbon monoxide danger.

The First Alert BRK Model SLED177 is a hard-wired strobe light for use with other BRK models including HC-9120, HC-9120B and HC-CO5120BN. It is, designed to be ADA compliant for providing a visual warning of fire or carbon monoxide danger. Appropriate for residential and institutional applications including sleeping rooms of hospitals, hotels, motels, dormitories, and other multifamily dwellings.
It features a Smart Strobe that has separate flash patterns to distinguish between smoke/heat and carbon monoxide dangers. The flash patterns approximate the audible alarm emitted by either a smoke or heat alarm or a carbon monoxide alarm.
The 177 candela LED strobe flashes an average of 60 times a minute. It features a small, green LED light that signals when it is receiving power. The unit is inter-connectable with up to 18 devices, of which 12 can be smoke alarms..

I'm deaf without my hearing aid and cochlear implant processor. I have a service dog since sleeping through a fire alarm at a hotel. He's good, but practicing fire alarms is difficult. I installed these in the bedrooms in my home and the tv room. The flash would definitely wake me even in the daytime.

Wife got cochlear implants so basically deaf at night, this detector is a great answer to alerting her. The flashing light is almost blinding, works fantastically

I wanted a detector with a strobe for some family members that are hard of hearing. Annoying part is having to have these hard wired. I did have some rewiring done and was able to have these hardwired and linked together in my house. When they do alert, the strobe light can definitely raise the stress level as it is different from the regular just beeping. But it does its job. If you are electrical savvy and want to add one to someone's house that cannot hear, you can use the connectors provided and splice it to an appropriately rated cord with a plug and plug it into the wall. Only 4 stars because of the price.
