social enterprises - atwork! Operates three small business lines that contribute financial support for our mission. In 2017, we added a new line of business, securing a subcontract to provide food services at the us coast guard station in seattle. This addition created 5 new jobs for people with disabilities; for a total of 23 jobs for people with disabilities in our businesses in 2017.The people we employ earn prevailing wages which can be as high as $25 per hour on some federal landscaping contracts; as well as benefits including health insurance and paid time off.

community inclusion - atwork! Community inclusion services ensure that people with significant disabilities stay connected to their communities. Of the 39 people served in this program, the majority is of retirement age; many have complex support needs and are medically fragile. In 2017 we began serving our oldest individual who is 75 and had been isolated in his home for many years. We grew capacity to serve more people by adding two additional fte. This new capacity enabled us to serve people with disabilities who are temporarily leaving in nursing homes. Inclusion services that get people actively involved in typical community activities (like bingo at the senior center) are vital to the mental and physical well-being of people with disabilities as they age.
