I have always purchased nothing but Schlage door knobs/locks for every home I have owned for more than 45 years. However, we have a Schlage keyed entry door from our kitchen to garage that failed this week in the worst possible way. With the door closed and unlocked the lever did not allow you to open the door. Since I had access to the interior (kitchen side) I removed the two screws that hold the lock together assuming I could reach in and pull back the latchbolt that interfaces the door jamb. No such luck. Apparently a small part that engages the latchbolt was broken. There was no way I could pull it back to open the door. After 20mins of trying I began it pull apart in the interior section of the lock through the doorknob opening in the door. The pieces pried apart but the latchbolt was not moving. I tried thin blades (putty knife, hacksaw blade and small screwdrivers) to try to move the latchbolt from the jamb but it was not moving back to free the door. Finally after more than an hour I put my shoulder to it and broke the door open from the garage side which shattered the doorjamb. I now have a fair bit of carpentry to do to repair and and am certainly not replacing it with an identical Schlage system or parts. Fortunately we have two other entry doors to the house but there is no excuse for a failure like this that is not able to be resolved from the inside on and entry door.

I was unable to swap the tumblers from my slage round knob, but other than that, a great bit of hardware. Easy to install.

I switched from a lesser quality to this product. Beefy internals. Sometimes it is worth the extra price for the best. It is a headache to change from one format to another. It required patience and thought. If you are not in a hurry the result will great peace of mind. Everything works perfectly. Clean finish. Perfect fit

In my experience Schlage is a very high quality lock, and way better when compared to Kwikset, or Weiser. So in my home we have only Schlage that I rekeyed to use only one key. The gate to the property was rekeyed as well, but with the use of master pins it works also for the landscaper key. I bought this lock as "used" and paid half the price of the new one. It came in a sealed plastic bag not in a nice box. It included ALL of the parts that come with a new lock, and as far as I can tell, this lock has never been used. It's practically new!

Good design! You can have the handle end go upwards or downwards. This was easy to install and it works well.
