I can’t speak to how well it works- I was hoping to use it to make sure there was no or almost no copper in my water, but it doesn’t measure very low levels so wasn’t suitable for my purposes

This product was extremely helpful for me to see how hard my tap water was for my Axolotl aquarium. Super easy to use, pretty quick results, definitely recommend.

I don’t recommend this kit for freshwater planted aquariums if you need accurate results below 1ppm. As you can see in the pic the color values below 1ppm are all so similar that it could be 0ppm if you hold the tube one way, or 0.5ppm if you hold it another way. For freshwater planted aquariums often times you are trying to diagnose an algae problem where phosphate levels of 0.5ppm vs 0ppm is a major difference. In that respect this test is useless. I’ll give API 3 stars for ease of use because their instructions are clear unlike Salifert, but in terms of accuracy I don’t recommend them.

Got the order in timely manner but the instructions that came with them is for Nitrite test.. now how am I supposed to find the instructions amp; color chart? Also does this mean the box was tampered with or just wrong instructions? Hopefully what I find online is accurate, 4 stars bc the master kit has been awesome but would like to use these as well.

Came with instructions for Nitrate test kit instead of KH and GH instructions. Had to search online.

I've been doing marine/reef tanks over 30 yrs. And reviewing experienced fish Keepers, you can learn a lot. Use of copper for fish parasites is highly effective, but deadly if strict instructions are not met! This copper test is ok for experienced fish/aquariest. But i recommend a more accurate for the beginners and novice hobbiest. And most of all, time and patience must be followed.

while everything was in order and it wasn't completely broke, the bottles of reagent leaked on the box and instructions quite badly despite it being packaged decently well. don't be surprised to open to a saturated package, but it worked otherwise

The colors of the two liquids are swapped on the instructions. KH is orange and GH is blue, but instructions for watching color change says the opposite

This comes with one api glass tube which is nice if you did not buy the master test kit and do not have any tubes. Also nice to get another one since they are fragile. Same stuff that in master kit, but without buying the kit.

There is often a question of how accurate these tests are; that question is a legitmate question. My answer is; as accurate to industry standards for the consumer market.Spend an extra $5-$10 for a few syringes, 1 for each tank. 1 for liquid fertilizers, et cetera. Fill your test tubes with tank water using a syringe, not the dip method. Your test results will be as consistant over time, as possible.
