I purchased this to replace a really expensive opener that had a fried logic board. That part alone was $450, so I chose to replace it with a Topens. We'll see how long it lasts. The motor/linear actuator is medium quality. It has some plastic parts that will probably fail first, and is not fully waterproof (IP44). I like that the power supply and logic board are separate. That makes replacement a little cheaper when it eventually breaks. Also, some complain that the soft close doesn't do anything. I found that it needs a couple cycles to learn the end points, and then works most of the time. Manual was decently written and illustrated. I have a magnetic (mag) lock that holds my gate closed. It's not the standard gate lock Topens sells. In order to make this work, I added a 24v relay and wired the lock to the normally closed contacts, so it's energized all the time. The relay coil is wired to the "light" output of the logic board. When the gates moves, the light output is energized, opening the relay and disconnecting the lock. This is not in the instructions, but i works.
