This was an upgrade for me from another brand that was 1/4 the price. The prior bidet worked ok, but had major limitations. To start, it had a much larger housing, which meant a short seat. Structurally, it had several surface seams, as well as hard-to-reach-yet-exposed areas, that made it awkward to clean (thus the main reason I sprung for this model). The drying fan was meh: its aim was off, and it drew air from the bowl instead of the room. The only thing I miss about the old bidet was the blue nightlight in the bowl. This Toto washlet is sleek. The housing is half the height, and about 30 less deep as other models. This makes for a much more comfortable seat, although it's ironically a little too narrow now. I don't want it to automatically open amp; close for me, so I'm very happy I could still get all the other features. In fact, most of the features are fantastic and work as well as, or better than, expected. My only criticism is the nightlights. I don't know why it has one on the outside, nor why the inside light will only turn on for sitting, not standing. Customs, I suppose?
