I bought this mesh globe to replace the glass glove and I think is way better than the glass. The only thing is that it turns dark after a few uses but it's easy to install and I don't have to worry about breaking it.

I bought this after breaking the glass globe on my Coleman lantern for the 3rd time. I was initially worried that the screen mesh would make the lantern less bright, but it didn't. When I first took it out of the box, I held it over one of the bulbs in my dining room chandelier. The bulb I saw through the mesh looked just as bright as any of the others. Maybe some difference could be measured with an accurate light meter, I don't know. If there was a difference, it was imperceptible to me. It certainly sheds plenty of light at the campsite. The only thing you need to watch out for is screwing the lantern lid on too tightly. The screen mesh is durable enough but if you compress it too tightly top to bottom it will buckle. Just pay attention to this minor detail and you'll be fine.

Great replacement for the glass globes. Only a slight difference in light intensity, fits perfectly. Very happy I won't be needing to buy any more replacement glass globes. Would definitely recommend this product.

From a sizing perspective, this is an effective replacement for the Coleman R214A046C globe (4-1/4"H x 4-1/2"W) as used in a Coleman Dual Fuel Two Mantle Lantern. You could take the glass globe and barely slide it inside the mesh globe (the mesh is about 1/8" taller). Stansport claims the size is 4 3/8" X 4 3/8", which matches what I saw. The Stansport item number (missing from description here) was 167-100. I have not used the lantern yet, so I can't comment on the quality or amount of light. I can, however, comment on how expensive two glass globes are, and I don't ever wish to purchase a third...

Have to admit, I had my doubts about whether my lantern would put out enough light with this steel mesh globe vs. the standard glass globe. I'm happy to report that it not only met but exceeded my expectations for light transmission. It fit my Coleman dual-mantle liquid fuel lantern perfectly - in fact, the fit seems a little better than with the glass globe. I installed it and fired the lantern up, and there was no appreciable loss of light through the mesh as compared to the glass. I've had globes break while driving on bumpy forest service roads and jeep trails and always carried a spare for that reason. Thanks to the Stansport wire mesh globe, there'll be no more of that. I have a single-mantle dual-fuel Coleman that takes a smaller globe. Wish they made a wire mesh globe for that one.

Even the hard case is not enough to protect you Coleman lamp, but this wire mesh is indestructible. Now I have a reason to keep using the lamp.

We decided to buy this after seeing it on a search to replace a broken glass globe. We live off grid and keep a propane lantern in our chicken coop for light and heat during cold dark Alaska winters. Because they jump around and are very active in the coop we were afraid they would break the glass. This globe has worked very well and we don't have to worry about it getting broken and leaving glass all over the coop. We still have to replace mantels often as I stated above it gets knocked around some even though it's hanging. So I would say that we are very happy with this purchase.

Wish I bought it years ago. Fit my old latern, works great provides good light, and is unbreakable. My latern is a 19 year Colman propane that it is hard to find globes for now.
