So when my 10 year old condenser fan failed, I was surprised to find the newer units use BLDC fans with full motion control on the condensers. The board is not available, and the motor costs $400! This here is really an ideal replacement, eventhough it's going backwards installing an induction motor with cap in place. It works perfectly though. The instructions are straightforward, but some electrical understanding is required. The speed of this unit is higher than my original so it is a bit louder. No biggie.I was not able using a gear puller and a torch to get the old fan off the shaft. Unless you have a press I strongly suggest you also order the appropriate fan blade and capacitor all together with this motor in order to complete the job same day.

This is a universal fan motor that worked well on my Rudd condenser unit. Simply follow the instructions and wiring diagram for your type of installation.

If you are using an older rheem or rudd condensing unit you know that these small quarter inch screws mount them on the body this has the screws and the screw holes that you need to mount properly and securely very good quality motor very quiet and smooth running.

Fairly easy to install. The directions were very poor but a youtube video helps to install. Motor works great and very little noise.

Very good motor, hefty build, and multiple wiring options for different AC units. A great replacement.

This is definitely a quality part. Noise improvement was the goal and this definitely was a lot quieter than my last motor. Make sure to check your fan. If it has cracks, replace it. This unit does not come with a fan (which it does not claim to).

Just needed a 1/4 ratchet, a 5/16 open ended wrench and a few inches of Electrical tape.I found that the direction of rotation was as viewed from the back (non-shaft) side of the motor.I guessed wrong the first time but it was trivial to re-connect. That did mess up the wiring color scheme from the AC unit's original installation, so I added the instruction sheet to the schematic package, circling the utilized motor installation drawing.

The directions tell you the wires to use for CW and CCW, but they don't say what to do to the two remaining wires. The 2 remaining wires need to be connected to each other otherwise the fan will not operate. The bolts holding the motor together may need to be removed and inverted in order to attach to the fan guard. I had to do that.

Just wire it like it shows which includes connecting two wires together and to nothing else! I also cut the shaft below the fan! I saw this is done to make the bearings last longer! Motor is working awesome on this 20 year old Rheem and I saved a lot of money! I have a little knowledge of electricity from when I first got out of high school!

For 3 wire installs, the yellow wire and either brown or purple wire are just connected to each other, but not to anything in your system. To figure out if you need counter-clockwise or clockwise rotation, look at the motor from the back with the blades hanging below (not sitting on the ground with the blades sticking out above). If you were looking at it sitting on it's back on the ground with the fan blades above, you'll probably have picked the opposite of what you needed. As mentioned before, once you've figured out which direction it should spin, for 3 wire installs, the other wire just gets tied together with yellow and doesn't go to anything. In my install I've tied together yellow and brown, which was also the least brown color of brown that I've seen lately.
