These are a great little tester for the checking the integrity of many types of cables. Too bad they are not supplied with test leads though.

I have used this product for almost every day over the last few years. I also have these- Behringer CT100nbsp; BEHRINGER CT100 Dbx CT2nbsp; dbx CT2 Cable Tester I am actually on my 2nd Pyle PCT-10 as the first completely died after about 1 year. Lets face it this product is cheaply made, on both my units the 3.5mm TRS connectors failed - they broke the first time I inserted a 3.5mm connector to test it. Also the RCA jacks are loose and lose contact. The overall quality is poor and the unit has a battery compartment on the bottom so does not match the picture of what is for sale (as noted by others here). On the positive side the battery lasts a long time, the unit is rugged though the connection points are not, and the beep is easily heard. The unit is clearly labeled as well. If it only worked. I used this for audio connectors (RCA/ XLR/ TRS/ continuity) and basically its only good for continuity - to provide a beep in the event the two probes at the banana terminals connect and no beep if they don't connect. I recently tried to use the 5 pin DIN and 4 pin 34;speakon34; connectors and they failed- pin 1/LED1 does not illuminate even though its connected. The DBX CT2 looks and works almost identical to this unit, and so far the connectors on that one actually work, but I have not had it very long. I have attached comparison pics of the DBX unit as well as with the bottom cover removed. The DBX seems slightly better build-wise but I'm not holding my breath on how long it will last. The text on the DBX is much smaller and harder to read. I have also used the Behringer CT100, it has slightly more 'Intelligence34; to detect loose connections and it has worked perfectly for years. Does not really have the same continuity function which is why I still use the Pyle and DBX. If I had to do it all over I'd go with the DBX and Behringer. The Pyle PCT10 is definitely not recommended.

I should have read the review about the battery. There is a metal cover held on with a screw. over battery compartment. When you open the battery compartment, there is literally no way to install a battery into the battery holder. This is a serious design flaw. It may work great, but if you can't power it, you can't use it. Disappointed.

The product I received is not quite the one pictured. There is no 34;slide-in34; battery access, but a panel on the back. I tried to put the battery in, but it's almost impossible to do so! I had better results just taking the whole back off! ...and it was still rather difficult to do so! Once the battery was in, and the back put on, ...the device worked fine! No problem there! I'm just thinking how awkward/difficult it's going to be when I need to replace the battery again!

This is an awesome cable tester. It was a little bit difficult to figure out what you should see for each type of cable, but once you use a known good cable, you can compare others to that reading. It is very easy to use and is well built. It is very sturdy and the pic on the web is a good view of the tester.
