I had to replace the threshold because our child's motorized wheelchair that had trouble bouncing over the threshold. So I bought a new door/frame and removed the threshold it came with. Of course now the gap between the door and new threshold will be about an inch or two, so you remove the bottom of each frame, dropping the entire door system down to the new threshold. Then measured the area I cut out and used an angle grinder with metal blade to cut it. Once placed in it's position, the piece transitions from the wood floor, across the threshold and about an inch on to the deck board. I used super strong construction glue and the screws to hold it in place. The top of the door frame will now be 1 or 2 inches shorter at the top, so we used wider molding all the way around.

I bought this to replace the wooden door sill on my back porch. It covered where I removed the rotten wood, and a concrete step outside on the porch. It fit perfectly after a few cuts with the jigsaw, and is very sturdy now with the screws installed. I highly recommend this!
