SPINE
The spine has three main sections, cervical, thoracic, and lumbar. There are seven cervical vertebrae (C1-C7), twelve thoracic (T1-T12), and five lumbar (L1-L5). In addition, there are two fused vertebrae, the sacrum and the coccyx. The twelve thoracic and five lumbar vertebrae make up the thoracolumbar spine. The cervical spine supports the head and allows anterior, posterior, and lateral flexion and extension, plus rotation of the head and neck. C2, called the axis, forms a pivot with C1, called the atlas, around which the head rotates on the cervical spine. Normal curvature is lordotic (eyes pointing up). The thoracolumbar spine (T1-L5) has two normal curvatures, lordotic in the lumbar region and kyphotic in the thoracic region. The primary spinal functions are to maintain an erect posture, provide stability and mobility, transmit loads, absorb shocks, and protect the spinal cord.

I started wearing a maternity band at around 22 weeks when my bump started to bump. I am now 31 weeks and it's safe to say i feel a HUGE difference when im wearing this band vs when im not. it's comfortable when I wear it over my clothes but I find that I have to adjust the band to go under my belly after sitting down. it's a mild annoyance but not an inconvenience to the actual support of the band. it's thick but I haven't found myself to get overstimulated or hot wearing this for long periods of time. and that is coming from an easy sweater living in Hawaii. I will say, I do prefer my motif pregnancy back brace support band from Motif, which i got through my insurance, but for the second trimester into the early stages of the third, I'd say this is a great and affordable option for that support.

This belt helped me through all of my 2nd trimester, as well as most of my 3rd. I just hit 35 weeks and am finding that I will need something with a bit more support to hold my belly up more, but it's definitely put in the work that it needed to for me. It helped relieve some of my back pain, and round ligament pain. It actually is the sole reason I was able to actually wear maternity jeans because it helped keep them in place. I would recommend this for pregnancy and lower back pain.
