Mission: The Mental Health Association in Greensboro provides leadership in identifying and addressing mental health needs and serves as an advocate for those dealing with mental health challenges by promoting hope and recovery. The Mental Health Association in Greensboro envisions a just, humane, and healthy society in which all people are accorded respect, dignity, and the opportunity to achieve their full potential free from stigma and prejudice.
Results: 90% of peers report decreased incidents of crisis/recidivism and hospitalization; receipt and utilization of tools valuable to their recovery; improved ability to manage symptoms; ability to develop and maintain healthy relationships; and feeling less isolated and more hopeful about their recovery. 98% of participants in Mental Health First Aid and Question, Persuade, Refer Suicide Prevention training report increased knowledge and increased comfort with handling mental illness and suicidal ideation in others, and 95% of participants in Provider Academy indicate that the information received assisted them in caring for their clients. One-half of peers surveyed report a positive change in life circumstances as a result of program participation, including going back to school, getting a job or promotion (or moving from part-time to full-time), or getting an apartment or house.
