Works great! Best to be positioned pretty well before releasing, but can be repositioned. The end caps are smooth plastic and I found the weir in my skimmer basket after it got loaded up with pine needles at one point. Although I had discarded the pull wire, it was easy to construct a substitute out of a solid core insulated 14 gauge wire. I found small, adhesive backed, round rubber pads at Ace Hardware and put them on the rod ends before reinstalling. That seems to have provided sufficient additional holding power.

This thing is a perfect fit for my Hayward skimmer hole! It speeds up the surface of the water really nicely to catch all the scum and bugs on top!

I have an early 2000's Hayward Skimmer. The part that's "supposed" to fit, SPX1082K is exactly 1/4" too wide, THIS door fits perfectly. In case you don't know, keeping the debris from floating back into the pool when the pump's off is the SECONDARY function of a Weir Door. The PRIMARY function is it GREATLY increases the pull of debris at the very surface of the water. This is due to Bernoulli's Principle.

We did some research and read other reviews, others said they used a hacksaw to trim down the flap to get it to fit. We thought we would try it as we had nothing to lose and it works perfect. When the pump turns off all of the debris no longer floats back into the pool, exactly what we needed. Easy to install other than having to trim it down.

We’ve had our in-ground pool for five summers. Our installer never gave us detailed instructions on how to care for the pool. Everything we’ve learned has been through trial and error or research. Our biggest problem was water circulation. We couldn’t understand why the surface water didn’t have much movement. One of the answers was we had no weir door on the skimmer. Not sure why our installer didn’t add one because they charged us a fortune. This little door has done wonders to increase the water movement in the pool. It was quick and easy to install. We purchased a hacksaw and popped it into place. It was that simple.
