Purchased the original Pro iii's while stationed in Korea in the past. After several replacement of foam/rubber bass ring (rot), it sounds wonderful still in my small setup.

I bought these to use in my workshop area. I needed speakers which were fairly small but powerful with clear sound. This fit the bill perfectly. The highs are crisp, the lows are clear but full, and the midrange sparkles. Great for music and also for listening to old-time radio mystery shows, which is what I have on most of the time when I'm working. Great price for the quality that these contain -- higher than some other choices but well-worth the price.

I got a set of used ones first. When they came there were no mounts and 1 speaker grill was smashed in. I sent them back and got a set of new ones. When I opened them and looked at the mounts I thought there's no way they will hold the speakers solid. I was right, the collar that tightens it up broke long before the thing was tight enough to hold the speaker. I ended up making my own mounts. The speakers don't sound bad but not as good as my front Polk Audio speakers.

I use these in a small living room where big speakers create marital distress. I blew out a JBL Venue Series speaker, which this replaces. It's similar, though it does seem to try to reproduce more bass than the Venue did -- a not entirely ideal situation, since I have a subwoofer to handle those frequencies. That said, for use without a sub, the C1Pro's are slightly better. Nice to have the mounting hardware, though I did not use it for my installation.

The JBL control 1 speakers are a very solid choice for both novice and veteran audio enthusiasts, it has very good highs with surprisingly punchy bass, the only drawback is the bass does seem to get choppy at higher volumes so i would recommend still getting a separate subwoofer.

These were the perfect size and form factor needed for my application. Build quality is very good, as others had noted the metal grills are a bit on the thin side and the speaker connections are the push type, but overall these are nicely done. That said, the midrange is very, very (almost extremely) laid back - just a bit too much for my liking. As I got these as "opened very good/like new" I'm not sure if this sound is by design or caused by the previous user. If these had decent midrange I would pick up another pair in a heartbeat.
