I care for an elderly lady and she recently had to move into assisted living. I could have moved her existing phone to take advantage of the facility's free service, but since she was having trouble using her old phone I went looking for a new one. I never knew they had picture phones like this and was thrilled to find it. This version is perfect: the flashing light lets her know a call's arriving even when without her hearing aids. The customizable large buttons, once a photo was inserted, let her dial someone directly. I could reprogram the 911 line to call the assisted living reception desk, so no worries about her inadvertenly dialing the police! There's no voice mail but really, she's no longer able to work any kind of voice mail. I covered the numbers; she could no longer dial sequential numbers, either. I even actually liked that it has a corded handset - no worries about it wandering off somewhere. She actually ANSWERS this phone, and she had stopped answering her home model. Some people had concerns about the phone quality; really, what do you expect for this price? It's inexpensive enough that if she drops it into bits, I don't mind buying another. Other people complained it unexpectedly died on them. Since I was able to program the phone, then transport it to assisted living the next day without losing programming, my guess is there is some kind of internal battery allowing that. Makes sense that battery could die, right?Even the folks at the assisted facility were impressed by the features on this model. Perfect? No, but I would certainly recommend it to caretakers. I feel MUCH better knowing I can call and speak to her directly and she is comfortable using this phone. That means a lot, especially when visiting in person during the pandemic has been forbidden.
