This spatula fills a niche I didn't realize I needed. When it was delivered my first impression was that it was much smaller than I expected, and I wasn't sure I'd actually be able to get much use out of it. In fact, I'm using it all the time. While it's not ideal for items that really need support across their entire surface, like maybe pancakes or something, it's actually very versatile and often much handier than the larger spatula I was expecting. When this has been in the dishwasher and I've gone back to using a "full-size" turner, it often feels awkward and clumsy in comparison. If you cook anything in a toaster oven or air fryer, this spatula is great for getting into the small trays or baskets. But even for larger uses, being so small can let you get in under things in a way larger spatulas struggle with. For example, last time I made an omelette this was the perfect tool. Its blade is much thinner than a mixing-type spatula, but smaller than a full size turner-style spatula, so it has the best of both worlds for getting in around the edges without breaking them apart. And it still supported the omelette enough to cleanly fold it and plate it at the end. It was easiest and best-looking omelette I've made in a while. The metal inside seems to cover a relatively large fraction of the blade, with only the very edge being unsupported silicone. That makes it fairly rigid, which is good for supporting foods, and it also makes it more durable. In many silicone utensils with a metal core, stress can be concentrated at the edge of the metal, since the silicone past that point is flexible. Since the metal covers so much of the paddle's area, there isn't enough of the floppy area to build up that kind of stress. There's just enough flex to cleanly scrape, but no more than needed.
