Speaker choices were limited in those days and amplifier manufacturers had to purchase products that were common to other applications. Usually, this meant a low-power speaker, often with an Alnico magnet, and limited cone and coil travel. Due to the nature of the speaker\'s construction, the sound of the guitar and amplifier combination was impacted by the speaker design. Amplified guitar was a bit more aggressive duty than most other speaker applications at the time and the speakers were frequently challenged in terms of their mechanical movement and linearity. Guitarist learned how to control this non-linearity and use the resulting tonal characteristics to their advantage. Speaker break-up became cool and was a desired feature by most guitarists. The great guitar tones we know now are a result of those events. Although there are a multitude of distinctive guitar speaker tones available today, they can be broken down into two main categories. We have Marshall and Celestion to thank for the distinctively \"British tones\" that we are so familiar with. Wow, what a difference! I replaced the stock speaker in my junky old Fender Sidekick 25 and it sounds like a whole new amp. A lot of reviews have said this speaker 34;tamed the highs34;, but I would say more accurately for me it brought all of the lower and midrange frequencies up to balance the sound. So you are not losing any sound, just getting a much crisper, fuller sound... and also much louder than the stock speaker. The magnet was easily twice as big as the original speaker's magnet, so I expected better lows, but I was blown away by the improvement in sound. Every thing I play sounds better. I'd previously shelved this little amp but this speaker has revived the ol' sidekick into my favorite practice amp. I can't recommend it enough.

These are perfect replacements for old Fender speakers. My Fender Twin is 45 years old and needed new speakers so these came highly recommended by the chief engineer of Electric Ladyland Studio, New York City. He did a complete refurb of the amp.

I replaced the speakers in my Fender 68 custom vibrolux reverb with these speakers, now the amp sounds very BIG, the celestion ten 30s that were in the amp sucked big time compared to these guys, no more flabby bottom, over all tone has been enhanced.

These are great speakers which I use in some of my gear. I ordered 2 more and both arrived separately with 8ohm tags but the speaker in the manufacturer boxes were 16ohm. Possibly mislabeled at the Eminence factory.

The best speaker out there. I've used it in my Twin, Deluxe Reverb, Swart SST30, Ampeg.. all sounded crazy good. Tamed the highs in a nice way. The lows are on the loose side. I've tried Alnico Golds, few Jensens, and other Eminence.. this is it for me.

Wasn't sure if I would like an Eminence speaker, but this one is very likeable. This replaced a c12k that I have used for 5 years and before the install of the new speaker, my amp was for sale. This speaker changed my mind because it 34;fixed34; the tone . It takes a huge chunk of the fizzy out of my silverface amp. I'm buying another c-rex for my blues jr.

Really helps the Fender Blues Junior. Straight out of the box, it took the harshness off the top end, and it gave the bass and mids a much needed boost. The bridge pickup on my Strat is a lot more usable now. This speaker really does a lot for your BJ, and it was the easiest upgrade you could do. I have BillM mods on the way, and I'll post again once those are installed. Overall, I would highly recommend this speaker.
