Great first crayons for little hands. Our one year old is creating masterpieces already. Buy a paper pad or suffer the consequences.

My niece loved these (1 year old). Not quite sure she realizes they are crayons at that age (vs fun things to pick up and play with), but they're working on her motor skills and these are really easy to grip in her cute chubby hands and will make for some great first time craft projects. Most importantly she can't break off a chunk and choke on it like regular crayons.

I bought these to put in my little one's Easter Basket (egg shaped ;-) ). They fit nicely in my 14 month old's hand, but she prefers to hold a regular crayon or marker. In hindsight I would not have purchased these because it doesn't teach the proper way of holding writing instruments and, to a toddler, it looks a bit like a snack. We rarely play with these.

These crayons are great. However they might be a little to big for a child under 2 (at least that's how I see it based on my son's hands) and they can become in a liability (my son loves throwing them across the room) and they are heavy so they can break things. I have put them away until he can understand he is not supposed to throw them but use them for drawing instead.
