Have had two of these. One at cabin, one at home. I figured getting the trouble with setting up the first was just a fluke. Nope. Next one was even more of a pain. Apps (I tried both android and apple) both crash constantly during setup. Even now I look over and my station is blinking the wifi icon which means as I've just accepted, it constantly loses connection and won't reconnect until I reboot my whole wifi system.

I've had this in service for about a year and a half. All the features work well enough for me but the anemometer cups deformed (all three) the first summer and by the second summer one broke off. I have it mounted in the middle of a pasture with no animals and far enough away that no debris would hit it. I live where it rarely gets to 100 deg F so extreme temps are not a factor.

We primarily bought this weather station so we could use the rain gauge readings with our Rachio sprinkler controller. Unfortunately, the rain gauge is all but useless. It has never worked properly. If we get a light rain like we are right now and have been since last night around eleven, it reads 0. If we get a heavy rain, which is fairly common in CO, it will typically read .1 no matter how much we get. I've called and talked to Ambient Weather about the issue and aside from the suggestion of taping a dime as a counter balance, they basically said that's just how it is. The dime by the way, might help with the heavy rains but would stop it from reading properly with light rains. The other features seem to work pretty well but for us this was a complete waste of money.

The required awnet app is the worst mobile app on the planet, at least on Android. Not only does the app crash when trying to add a device, the unit loses connectivity every few weeks, requiring an app uninstall and reinstall, and if you're lucky, it might actually work.

The unit works fine IF AND ONLY IF you do not care about using the app or accesing the data from the web. Their app does not work to connect the unit to wifi, rendering the unit useless unless I am at home to read the data from the supplied display. Also, the display is only readable at a very shallow angle, and appears dim or off if you try to read it from too high or low of an angle. If they can get the app fixed to allow wifi connections, I would give this more stars.

I love my Ambient WS-2902C weather station. Had it for four months now, and it works great! Very accurate. Easy to set up and connect to apps. Highly recommend.

Performs well in dry conditions. Useful as a casual weather observation device. Even minor snow events accumulate on sensor assembly blocking operation of the anemometer and wind direction vane. Snowfall doesn't register the precipitation amount as the cup becomes clogged with snow. Certainly better instruments are available.
