Mission: We assist individuals and families to survive, to prevent and to exit homelessness with donated goods, food sharing, day work and education, referrals to housing. We added the Recovery Empowerment Support Services Team (RESST) in February 2022 to engage individuals and families who suffer with substance and alcohol abuse and to support multiple pathways to recovery. RESST is the first Recovery Support Services Organization in La Plata County and Southwest Colorado. As a member of the Coordinated Council on Homelessness and to help people exit homelessness, we have plans to build small essential housing units in village setting — to provide permanent, supportive, low-to-middle income individuals & families for affordable rentals and homeownership opportunities.
Results: With the donations of our contributors, volunteers and grants, we served over 650 individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Y2020 with meals weekly at a local park and connected dozens of people to housing assistance and/or provided emergency motel accommodations. We have seven (7) trained peers who are in recovery; three of those peers are paid coaches with four volunteers.
