I own one of the older models with a stainless carafe, and I've had it for at least 10 years. It went camping a lot, on 4wd trips, and then finally found a permanent home at our off grid cabin. It's nice because I can enjoy the peace and quiet with coffee and no generator! The only complaint I have, as did one other reviewer is the carafe is larger than the reservoir, WHAT THE HECK! Who designed that, and apparently they didn't fix it either!? But still not a deal breaker or even close. I use one of the coffee mugs to put the rest of the fresh water in, then add it to the res when the water level goes down a bit. After about 5 years of intermittent use the igniter stopped working, but they strategically placed a hole for an flame igniter or long match to do the job. Not a big deal. After 10 years our old one finally died (R.I.P.). So I am buying this to replace it, it looks exactly the same (except my old one is black, and I'm hopeful the old stainless carafe works in it too. The pictures may look a bit rough, but its like saying goodbye to an old friend, it's bounced around in the back of my Jeep, been thrown in the bed of my pickup and abused by hunters. If you are in need of a wonderful coffee pot to use off grid, DON'T HESITATE! Buy it!

We took this on our recent camping trip. About 2-3 water bottles fills this thing up, it doesn't reach 10 it reaches 8. But still, we had 5 people having a cup of coffee with some left over. That's pretty dang good. Coffee came out perfect, you leave it on low when you want to keep the rest warm and then shut off when gone. Also used this to make hot water for out hot chocolate.

I was a little disappointed the first time I used it. The water reservoir wasn't large enough to take the full 10 cups from the carafe like my old Coleman coffee maker did, so made for a bit stronger pot of coffee. Now I use a separate pitcher to add the water (filling the pitcher with the carafe) and adding the remaining water during the brew cycle.
