These scrubs are a Jr. fit and do run somewhat smaller (expectedly)than the modern/misses fit compared to Cherokee's other Core stretch scrubs. I would in no way say they are low rise, which can be a good thing in the rear when bending over all day. The extra cotton wrapped elastic on top is very soft and comfortable. However, it adds to the overall rise significantly. I would say the front rise is def. more of a mid rise. When I ordered these, I also purchased the modern/missy fit straight leg cargo core stretch from Cherokee with the elastic waist in an XS. These Jr. fit pants run about half a size smaller than those as I was in between sizes in these (Small vs XS). I would opt to size up since they run a half size smaller. The rise however, is about the same in these "low rise" pants as the modern missy fit ones that claim they are mid rise. For reference, I am 5 ft 2.5" 120lbs, with wide hips. As usual for my height, they are too long, can't really say how much too long since I always know they will need to be shortened. I can't comment on petite, as I am usually between petite and regular, I tend to order regular and hem if needed. While there is ample room in the hips/seat, they are a bit more flared than I would prefer, making me look more "hippy" than I would like. The two back pockets are strangely far apart as well which also accentuates my already wider than normal hips. I really want to like these pants, they are very comfortable and I like the soft cotted wrapped band. They may work better for those who are taller and more straight up and down. I have thought about trying to get these pants altered to fit, but just can't justify the cost (remove one back pocket, lower the front rise, and decrease the flare when I have them hemmed.) So, I will probably have to move on.
