It's a cannon product, no need to say any more other than it's the only downrigging equipment I have ever owned.These new Mag 5's are incredible!

Works great. Smooth controlled cable line release. The fishing line release arrived broken. I called customer service and it arrived the next day. I really like this downtigher.

I do not like the system to tie the swivel that holds the ball

I have a fiberglass Fish Ski that is setup with the rear and front platforms, bow mount trolling motor, etc. With this setup I could not have a permanent solutions. In an effort to save money, I purchased the manual dowrigger at $250, but quickly realized the 24 boom was too short and I had to rotate the unit to transport, use, etc. At $100 for the swivel base, that put me at $350. This Magnum was $250 more, but had the extended boom and swivel base that is also removable. Knowing there has been times in my past I have kicked myself for not spending a couple extra bucks for the right tool. Given I never used a downrigger before, I started thinking about this a bit more and realized that especially since I will put two rods on it, when you get a fish on, you have to retrieve the downrigger. If I am by myself and have 2 rods, or the family with up to 6, that means you have lines in the water that need to be addressed, and worse this downrigger. A manual downrigger just adds to the fray, and seemed logistically impossible by myself and still difficult with the family, again especially noting you are dealing with 2 lines or more on the downrigger. I'm glad I caught myself and just put out the extra money. This thing is awesome, fast and easy to use with one touch up as well. Additionally, something I did not give consideration to is when you run shallow. It is very easy and fast to pull up the ball, then let it back down, where manually would be stressful and slower. Getting fish on would have also been an issue. Hitting the up switch brings this up automatically while you contend with other rods and your fish. Generally it takes a while for me to realize I did the right thing in spending more, but this was realized my first trip. I also added a 2nd rod holder and a flush mount power port for easy removal. I still need to use this boat as a family boat for swimming and skiing, so quick removal of the downrigger still affords that, while allowing me to get serious when I want to.
