Our Shelving Jig is an easy-to-use, see-through template for drilling consistently spaced and centered shelf-pin holes. This Shelving Jig works with four different bit sizes to quickly and easily drill shelf-pin holes in a wide variety of projects.
Big Horn Shelving Jig helps eliminate the hassle of trying to drill correctly spaced pin holes on your own. For use with assembled or unassembled cabinetry that features faceless or face-frame construction, the Shelving Jig is the ideal tool for building bookcases, entertainment centers, or cabinetry with adjustable shelves, or for adding shelves to existing units. The clear template features laser-cut accuracy for consistently spaced, and centered, shelf-pin holes.
The handle for the Shelving Jig helps you align the template and hold it in place. Mount the handle to the template based on the setback and spacing you want, and then use the handle to secure the template while you drill. You can also insert a shelf pin in the top or bottom position to help hold the jig in place.
With just one Shelving Jig, you can drill holes either 1-1/2 inches or 2-1/2 inches from the edge. Simply mount the handle on the appropriate side to achieve the setback you want. The shelf-pin holes are spaced 1-1/4 inches apart.
The Shelving Jig comes with a 1/4-inch self-centering bit that is preset to bore a consistent depth for fitting shelf pins and sleeves.

2 seconds into using it the drill bit came apart in pieces didn't even get 1 hole drilled before it came apart. Took me a good 30 minutes to get it back together. Once I did it worked great.

The jig itself is perfect for the addition of more shelving. My honey-do list included adding shelves to both bathroom and kitchen cabinets. This jig made things much easier than breaking out the ruler/tape measure and level! I subtracted one star for the bit that comes with the kit. While it is very helpful the way it lines up with the wholes, debris quickly builds up around the shank preventing the spring from releasing. A quick tap or simply push or pulling on it would free the debris up, but I had to do it about every two or three wholes I drilled. Overall, would definitely recommend.

Needed a template for several hundred shelf brackets. This item worked very well; easy to set up, compact, and an accurate drilling action. The spring loaded 1/4 bit did not always spring back as wood chips would get hung up in the mechanism. At times this was a little tedious. Otherwise, this was the only reason it didn't get 5 stars.

This jig worked perfectly for setting pin holes on the bookshelves I am building. I didn't use the bit that came with it because I went with 5mm rather than 1/4. I would still be pleased with it even if the bit wasn't good anyways. 5 stars.

Spring won't stay on bit and no matter how tight I get set screw after about 30 holes bit falls out
