Very thin metal, you’ll be lucky to be able to open the paint can a couple of times without destroying it. FYI, don’t pound the lid down til it’s completely seated if you plan to use the paint in the near future as continued opening and closing will ruin the can. No bucket handle.

Good product at a reasonable price. Only downside is no handle on the gallon size container. Not a deal breaker, just something to be aware of.

These are well made and I don't have to clean an empty can of paint. I will use a liner and these will stay clean.

Yes, I use the Cornucopia Gallon amp; Quart Paint Cans to store bird seed for my new outdoor bird feeder. I purchased a large bag of bird seed and needed storage containers for the seed. I read in many articles that bird seed should be stored in metal (and not plastic) containers to keep squires, chipmunks and other critters from eating the seeds. I was happy to receive the two cans - Gallon and Quart sizes. After filling the bird feeder, I poured the remaining seeds from the plastic bag into the metal containers. These are very high quality metal containers. The lids fit tightly onto the cans. The cans are well constructed and heavy. One needs a flathead or similar item to pry the top off the cans. Also, there is no handle for the cans - the description of the cans appropriately states no handles - so no surprise. While I am using the metal cans to store birdseed, the cans are suitable and mostly used, I believe, to store paint. While I have no personal experience using the cans for paint, they look as though they would be well suited for paint and other liquids. On the positive side, no critters will be able to get to my birdseed and I can store the birdseed safely in my garage without worry.

The only thing missing from this pair of cans is the handle on the one gallon container. I can do without that convenience in order to have an extra set of empty paint cans around. There are times I need to mix my own watered down latex "tree white" paint used to coat tree trunks to protect them from the intense summer sun. Next year there will be a major pruning here to significantly reduce the size of overgrown avocado trees. Just as soon as that takes place all of the exposed trunks will need to be sprayed white right away to protect them from burning. The other handy use for these cans is the ability to take a small amount of leftover paint from a five gallon bucket and move it into the one gallon size for storage, or do the same with leftover one gallon paint and the quart size can. An empty quart can is also great to use to carry small amounts of paint around instead of lugging an entire gallon.

I have been looking and wanting some cans like this to use while we have been working on the house. I seen these online and it fit the bill. We had some paint in older cans that were starting to rust out and we needed a place to put the paint because it was still good. These worked perfect and quality is good. The only con I have is that on the Gallon Can it would have been nice to have a handle to carry it by.

One of our projects that we have been working on is going through all of our leftover paint to see what kind of shape it is in and if it can still be used. We have several cans that developed a skin on top and have a little dirt in them. I ordered these gallon and quart cans along with some paint filters and started straining out all of the crud in the old cans, then transferring the clean paint to the new cans. Doing this is saving us a lot of money; every bit of paint we can save is that much less we have to buy for repainting and touch-ups, and paint is expensive! These cans work great, and I will probably be ordering more before our project is done.

I didn't get these to put paint in them. I'm using this to build a mini solo stove. The plan is to cut a hole in the lid for the big can just big enough to fit the small can in. Drill holes in the bottom and top inside edge of the small can for airflow and along the outside bottom of the large can. I'll use the lid of the small can to put out the fire if needed, or to contain mess during transport. This is project 473 on the active list, so we'll see if it leapfrogs it's way forward in the next couple weeks or ends up getting built over the winter, but I'll try to post pictures and an update review once I've tested it. I had a couple of cans of paint that were the same color in sheen, and I combined them both into the larger can. This prevented waste because one of the cans lids would not seal all the way. These cans are high-quality and sturdy, and a great value with two sizes.

Paint and stain are getting really expensive -- and I don't like wasting it if I can use it later for touchups or a second coat. But without an empty can handy, I always end up putting leftover paint in whatever plastic containers I can find. Since they're not meant to store paint, you end up with dried up film on top, or there's always the possibility that those plastic lids can just get knocked off, paint spills, big mess! From now on, I plan to keep at least one empty can for each of these sizes (gallon and quart) to avoid ruining all my containers -- and the paint I'm trying to save! Just pour in the leftover paint, tap on the lid, mark the paint info on the can with a marker and store it away safely! I'm ordering another set. :-)
