The LP5X preserves the iconic J-shaped tonearm, inspired by Audio-Technica's classic models from the 1960s and '70s. It incorporates a metallic gimbal suspension system and precision bearings to minimize tracking errors. The tonearm features adjustable counterweight and anti-skate control, paired with a lightweight (9.3g) AT-HS6 headshell and the black AT-VM95E Dual Moving Magnet stereo cartridge.
Crafted with anti-vibration damping materials and heavy-mass metal chassis inserts, the AT-LP5X turntable is designed to minimize low-frequency acoustical feedback. Its precision-machined, die-cast aluminum platter is driven by a direct-drive, low-noise motor, ensuring stable rotation at 33-1/3, 45, and 78 RPM. A 5 mm thick rubber-damping mat tops the platter, isolating from low-frequency feedback and providing a stable surface for all LP formats.
Equipped with a built-in switchable MM/MC phono/line preamp, the AT-LP5X can connect directly to a computer, home stereo, powered speakers, and other components lacking a dedicated turntable input. The MM/MC cartridge options allow for easy upgrades to a moving coil with additional equipment. Additionally, the turntable features a USB output for direct connection to a computer.
