I am an avid beer brewer and am tired of milling the grain by hand or by using a drill as the motor. So I needed a motor, and furnace blower to the rescue. First thing though was to figure out how to wire this. You have to love the internet, many videos on repurposing furnace blower motors. The two key items to know are the capacitor just hooks up to the brown wire and the brown/white wire. Then don't worry about it, but do not touch the posts! Then if you want to just hardwire the power to an outlet go white wire to white, black to black and green to green and you are done. But if you want the multiple speeds this motor provides, Red is slow, Blue is medium and Black is full speed. You can see in my photo I hardwired to Red for slow. I might add in a 4 position rotary cam changeover switch in order to be able to switch on/off, fast, medium, slow. There are videos out on how to do this. Search on wiring a 3 speed blower motor. Now all I have to do is get some pulleys and a belt and lower the speed that I want the grain ground at. The slowest speed on motor is still a tad fast. There is also a great website that helps you calculate lowering speed with pulleys. You enter in the two pulley sizes, the motor speed and it calculates the speed.
