As far as I can tell this kit is accurate, although I have never tested it against another kit. Gives calcium readings in 20ppm increments (360, 380, 400, 420, etc.) which works well for me. Overall, I believe it serves its intended purpose of giving you calcium readings.

It's true it does take up to 25 drops to get a reading, however the first 15 or so can be added in batches of 4 or five. Espically if you already kinda know what your reading should be. You can just add up until that point, then slow down for the most accurate reading. It normally doesn't take more then 3 minutes or so.

The trick is for a coral reef tank, I start with 17 drops that would put my calcium at 340 then i go 2 drops at a time, very easy, best one i have used yet and inexpensive.NateColorado

API is the bargain end of SW testing equipment. Typically good for fish only tanks, soft tanks, and occasionally LPS tanks. However, since calcium needs only to stay constant and in a certain range, the test doesn't necessarily need to be as accurate as a Nitrate test where you need to be able to monitor nitrates between 0-5ppm. So long as you occasionally have your calcium tested using Salifert or other higher end brand by your fish store or friend, this test works well for week to week testing.
