Family liked following along as I hiked the trail. You see these along the trail in hostels etc and it is nice to see progress.

Loved the poster. I did come packaged in padded envelope which meant the roll was oval and a bit bent. But I reverse rolled it and held with rubber bands and in a few days it was fine. Just getting ready to mount it on a large sheet of cardboard. To inspire and plan my own trek!!

Laminated and hanging in my kitchen. Crossing off my sections as I go. Love it!!!! Easy to cross reference it to other maps.

Disappointed that this was the same map I got for free at my local Chamber of Commerce near Springer Mountain GA. I'm sure it's not carried at many places for free, but anyone starting in GA could have gotten it free by visiting the C of C. I wish I had ordered the larger Nat Geo map - I expect it would have been more useful and suitable for framing. This smaller map could be framed and will be kept as a memento while I mark up the free one, I guess.

Quite long and a typical poster frame would not fit, however I purchased two long skinny frames cut them to fit and it's beautiful.

Good compact map. However, if you need a map of the AT, get the boxed National Geographic Reference map of the AT which has much more useful detail.<br />Each serves a purpose. I have this one on the wall in my bathroom to remind me at a quick glance how daunting a Thru Hike is. However, if I were to have ony one.I would select the National Geographic version.<br /><br />The ATC collaboraed on both.

I had a custom frame made based on the dimensions listed. 48 is correct in the height but it is not 9" wide. It's actually Around 9.3. Had a little trouble getting it to fit in the frame since there is more black boarder on one side than he other. Once I got it to fit, it looks great. No creases or bends like others have mentioned. Next time i frame a picture I'll wait until I can measure it before ordering a frame.

Colors are not as vivid as it looks in the picture. I had planned to put it on a gallery wall in my office but the wall color is too similar to the map color. I have to figure out how to back it without spending a fortune. Once I get that done and I hang the map, I am sure I will get pleasure looking at it and remembering my Appalachian trail hiking trip!
