I purchased the single gate opener and it was easy to install. Instructions were step by step and had it completed in about an hour. I also have purchased the TOPENS gate lock and solar charging system. Other accessories I have purchased include the M12 remote pack, (2) keypads, and a home link that were all easy to program with the TOPENS gate control panel.

Pros: Works and great solution for custom gate or custom install. Cons: Lacking in instructions for connecting wires and tools that will be needed. A bit of a cable management issue. Two control boxes is annoying. Every install will likely be unique so if your doing it diy be prepared to work on install for several hours Tip Read instructions first and gather tools. Especially important if gate is far from tools or remote location. Need a mini screwdriver to connect wires to circuit board

Seems well made, with a simple yet flexible design amp; features. Power supply and swing gate controller were easy to connect. Remote controls programmed and worked the first time. The most difficult part of the physical install was mocking it all up together and holding it in place with clamps to make sure the open / close limits worked, and then drilling (4) 10mm and (2) holes through the metal gate post and bottom gate pole. Need a long drill bit and some patience but it all went together nicely. Will update the review after a few months of operation.

I've been using Mighty Mule for the last decade on our 12' gate. The latest a MM 360 was OK for the last 5 years. Replaced the rev board once. Had intermittent issues. The latest issue seemed unsolvable so I had to replace it. Decided to give the Topens 5131 a try. Since I have a power outlet at the location I got the model with the added power supply box. That eliminated the need for a battery which eliminated an intermittent issue that is bound to arise sooner or later with any battery driven gate opener. The special key release on the Topens solves the power failure problem that could arise without battery drive. The first plus of the Topens is it is very quiet compared to the MM models. The second plus is that the actuator arm is sealed to IP44. The MM arms are prone to moisture getting inside. Which is never a good thing. The magnetic limit adjustments on the Topens are another plus IMO. The one issue that I ran into was with the RF antenna of the Topens being sealed inside the control box vs the MM antenna as a separate mount. Because of that the range of the Topens remote was reduced. While in the car the remote didn't always activate the opener even when close by. I solved that issue by drilling a small hole into the side of the control box, just big enough to get the antenna wire through. Pulled it through and applied a dab of silicone sealant both inside and outside of the box. Now the range in the car exceeds the old range of the MM remote. I also applied silicone to all of the bottom openings of the control box where the various wires come into it to keep ants out. Ants taking up residence inside the box around the circuit board might be a remote possibility. But if they do it's not going to end well. Update: Discovered that the two spare remotes that I had bought were not Topens. Although identical in appearance to the remotes that came with the opener. They were inferior to the Topens openers. The range of the knockoffs is nowhere near the range of the genuine Topens remote. Buy the silver Topens remotes with 4 green buttons. Not the M12 remotes that look exactly like them.

Hooking up there was some trial and error but I got it and now I love not having to get out and opening my gate. It opens my 16 foot farm gates just fine.

Watching the installation video first and then using the instruction manual made installing the gate opener easy. It does help to have two people to ensure the opener is level. Wiring was as easy as plug and use with clear instructions and colored wires to ensure correct connections. The remote was programmed with a push of a button on the unit and a corresponding button selection on the remote. I can open and close the gate from inside the house which is about 200 feet from the gate. Open and close speed is what I expected. I can't speak to value for the money as the opener has only been in service for a few days.

Installed on my 250 lb chain link fence driveway gate. Installation was fairly straightforward as expected. We've been using it for almost 2 months with no issues. Tech support is great, any questions were answered very quickly.

Installation was easy. This has been great to have so we don't have to get out of the car and open and close the gate. The power supply is a rip-off, though. Unless you're going to use a battery.

i use 4 of these A5131 gate openers on a commercial building. they were easy to install and have worked reliably for two years. i also have two of the TC173 cameras that allow me to control the gates via my mobile. i did have some initial questions regarding the micro SD cards they accept for recorded surveillance, as well as some minor programming issues, all of which were quickly handled be email with the Topens support team. i found their equipment to be of good value and am very satisfied with my purchase.

This gate opener is AWESOME!! Super easy to install and works great. Had an issue with my wireless keypad and Topens took care of it immediately. Highly recommend!!!

A good and efficient product after having several problems with my old gate opener "mighty mule" I decided to look for something better, affordable and durable and I think that this Topen A8131 product meets these requirements. I am satisfied with my purchase, it took 2 hours to install it. It works great, less noise, built with better and stronger material than my previous ones. I highly recommend and and the customer service is very friendly and helpful 100 G PAZ.

It took me a while to install the opener as I had to modify the gate to swing properly so by the time i finished with the gate and new hinges and install the gate opener I have only 2 months left on the warrantee , the gate will open when the sun is shining on the solar panels but when dusk it will not open at all, I did run 120 volt line to it recently but I don't see it working any better. I am having a hard time understanding how to power without the batteries , only 120 volts for its power?

After extensive review of various gate openers, I am so pleased and glad I chose the Topens A8131 single swing gate opener. The push to open feature was so much easier to install than I had anticipated. The directions were clear and easy to understand. Highly recommend this product if you're looking for a gate opener.

I purchased this gate in September of 2022 for our brand new fence that we had just paid a ton for. I have been messing, tinkering, and adjusting it ever since. There were rare moments where the thing actually worked...for a few days. Now...on January 9, 2024...I have finally thrown in the towel. When it does close all of the way (about a 20-30 chance of that happening), it now slams into the fence post with enough force to make it open all of the way (too far now) again. I reached out to Topen back in 2022 (via phone and emails with videos). Nice people, but no tangible help. I've had "experts" and friends come to help. I understand that I've had this mess on my new fence for almost 16 months. And that the relatively low price should have been a clue for me. Having said that...my Dad always had very sage advice. One of his best was to, if I could afford it, always buy the best tools available. I personally can't stand when products do not work, and/or the manufacturer will not or cannot stand behind what they produced and sold. I have been told that maybe the gate is too heavy...but this motor is supposed to close 600 pound gates. My gate is not close to that. Bottom line for me...do not purchase this product from Topen. Maybe their higher end product is better. I personally will not purchase anything from them again.
