Opening the box , I thought I needed to call in hazmat! This was COVERED in oil. Looking like it was plucked from the deck of the Exxon Valdez. Next, the casting of the steel is primitive at best. Looks like it was made in one of the reels you see on FB. If not made there, some of their equipment. Yes it doesn't cost a lot, but it should do the job... hopefully. Obviously if you want nice looking shop equipment, this isn't for you. It's actually embarrassingly ugly. It will perform it's basic function... Pressing things. So if your shop resembles a third world shop in Bangladesh, you're probably good to go with this. Otherwise, spend more money or pick up a used quality/ name brand.

Pros: Very strong arbor press for the price. Good capacity and features for an entry level price. Nice to see they included 3 different points to get you started and you can make some more out of bolts from the hardware store. Cons: The horizontal shaft for the handle has too much play and slop for my tastes. The retaining screw for the handle is annoying as you would need to keep a wrench handy to adjust the handle. (I replaced it with a thumb screw). Summary: Overall and excellent buy for the money and the slop can be ignored without regrets at this price point and unless you are going to be using it every single day, it should last several generations.

I'm no machinist, but I do like black walnuts. Bought this "used" because it's about half the cost of a dedicated walnut cracker (of dubious/unproven functionality). It arrived covered in an oily coat of nastiness (think dipped in a vat of used motor oil) that no doubt protected it in its long voyage through salty air, from China. It was well-packaged in a sturdy box made of 1/4" plywood and cardboard. It proved to give more than enough force to crack walnuts, but I'll have to figure out: (1) a way to steady the nuts under the ram, (2) just how much force to apply without totally pulverizing them, and (3) design a sort of table of 3/4" plywood with a rim around it that I can bolt to a steady base (like a big block of firewood). This should replace the tedious "hammer and rock" method (that sometimes endangers fingers) of cracking walnuts for years to come! I may even find other uses for it as well. Probably would buy again.
