Arrived in a nice foam case and checked accuracy against some other 0.0005" dial indicators I have on hand and can confirm (at least mine) is within 0.001". More than fine enough measure the backlash in the ways on some older Fellows shapers I use. Only issue is the zero dial seems to grind on the housing, and there's a noticeable hard spot when rotating a full 360 degrees. If you don't make reference measurements and are just looking at deltas that's fine, but if you're constantly making dial adjustments it's rather rough and I don't see it working in and getting any better over time. But short of that, it operates great at a fraction of the price of the well-known brands.

Great tool to have around the shop. Seems accurate compared to a gauge block. Helpful on the mills and lathes. We use this tool to measure deflection on beams too. This is super economical compared to the big Japanese tool suppliers.

This might be my sixth or seventh indicator, I like that the shaft's enclosed.I tried this out in a few places on the lathe; to dial in thread depth when using the compound and to capture saddle movement. It's too long for the inside movement as shown in the picture, but you can move it to the right side after preloading it.The movement of the dial is smooth the full length, and for me the yellow background makes it easier to read. The full enclosure will let you know where it will fit under movement so you don't have to worry about it suddenly becoming a carriage stop.
