Broke a tap a good 1/8 inch below the surface in a transmission. Broke 1 tab on the first try. Cut them to the same length and took my time setting the pin. Worked with a little bit of worry. Doubt the pins will last more than a few uses. Overall worth the cost.

I never do reviews BUT this tool worked better than I thought it could. I spent 4 hours trying to remove the broken tap and looked online and found this tool. It took 5 minutes to get the broken tap out. This tool worked so good I thought it was just slipping on the tap and when I removed the tool the broken tap was caught in the tool. This is the best tool ever for removing broken taps.

Had my doubts, but worked great for me. Best technique was to make sure the shank was touching the body of the broken tap, rock it back and forth (don't go nuts on the torque!), and tap stub will loosen up, and then back it out and Bob's your uncle!

It did a great job on broken a 1/2 tap. The tap was hanging up a bit but after I ground down the uneven points of the tap it went a lot better.

The tip of the tap was wedged in tight. I followed the directions - cleaned the chips out of the grooves with a dental pick and compressed air, applied cutting oil, then inserted the fingers as far as I could, which was about an 1/8 inch. I secured the sleeve until it contacted the surface, lightly tapped it with a hammer and punch to get it snug. I tried turning it both ways, also applying downward pressure until the fingers bent and then slipped out. Ground off the bent finger tips, tried again. Third attempt it freed up and came out! Much easier than other methods I've used.

One of the best tools to have and not need vs need and not have. They take the panic away from hearing the crunch of a tap breaking.
