I finally decided switch to a seated playing position. I've noticed most symphony players use a stool and I get tired of standing all the time. I'm tall, weigh 200 lbs, and transport my 3/4 double bass in a small car several times a week, so a standard wooden stool is not a good option. The Vestil stool folds flat making it portable enough for my car and one trip to the practice hall.I've been using this stool for a few weeks now and I still think it is the best available solution for my situation, but there's plenty of room for improvement:o It's a little heavy being made of steel. I'd switch to aluminum.o It should have straps or a carry case. It would be easier to move between the car and reversal hall without tiring your free arm (the other arm is wheeling the instrument in the a soft case)o When folded, the seat lays against the frame of the stool for easy transport, but only as long as it is kept somewhat upright. The problem is the stool is tall, so you have to tilt it on the side for easier carrying which allows the seat to fold open (ouch)o The seat position should have a more positive lock function. The seat has not slipped while sitting on it, but it falls if you try to move the stool by pulling or pushing on the seat.o It would be nice if it doubled as an instrument holder or at least a bow holder.o The seat padding could be more comfortable for hours-long use and the shape of the seat could be more roundedAny designers out there who want help take an adjustable stool to the next level? I'd be in line to purchase one (even at up to $400).

A reasonably priced chair that is ideal for backyard astronomers. However, for safety, it must be used on a flat surface. I should add that the product is an excellent meditation chair, too. Peace, love, clear skies.

I am an equestrian event photographer and shoot at horse arenas for hours at a time. This chair was just what I needed. I can just the height to achieve the proper shooting angle and not be worn out by the end of the day.

Works great as a bass stool.I sit off to the right of this and the foot rest is a good height for me to play. I play standing most of the time, but this is a great easy to transport option for me when we have long rehearsals or multiple gigs.I like that the height is so easy to change. Near top is great for me on upright bass (I am about 5'10, and it can go at least 2-3 higher if needed), and I can lower it and use with guitar/elec bass whenever I want.A friend has had this as his bass stool for several years. I hope this one proves equally sturdy.

I bought this as a observing chair for my telescope. It's easy to setup, and has a good range of seat height adjustment, 18.5 to 33, with a foot rest for the higher levels. It's easy to adjust, just lift the front of the seat a bit and slide it to the height you need. I like the fact that there are no defined levels, like some seats. It does have a height limit, but there is no physical stop to keep you from going above it, just a little white sticker telling you not to go above it. It's a little heavier than I expected, a good thing. It's been stable for me whether I set it up in my yard or on sidewalk. I've had no issues with the seat slipping, but I do make sure it's set, every time I change seat height.

Just received it on 4/27/2022, opened and set up in seconds, 14 year old son is playing his 3/4 size double bass and loving the adjustable height. Appears to be sturdy, stable, easily adjustable, and with a comfortable seat.

I liked the old seat. But i have to admit.. this is the third seat I've bought. I play string bass and this is my go to chair for rehearsals and performance. In my studio i use the heavier version but this is good for ‘on the road'Ps. It used to be $100.
