I love this thing. As a hvac technician I use 1/4 inch driver bits all the time.It's saved me many times when I need to get into tight spaces.The ratchet has a fine gear so it works with minimal friction.

This mini ratchet wrench from VIM Tools was the tool I needed to help make a job much easier. I have a few mini ratchets around here, but the smallest one I had prior to this one from VIM Tools had the directional switch on each side of the ratchet, and it also featured fewer teeth. The problem was, sometimes the directional switch would bump into am obstruction and it would reverse the direction I wanted to go. This has caused many problems, leading to jobs taking longer than needed and frustration.This mini ratchet has 52 teeth, so the sweep is decent. The thin handle is a big plus, so I can get more action in tight spaces. The directional switch is on top of the ratchet and doesn't get bumped while in use. It also holds onto bits well. Once I had this tool, I was able to finish tightening down a certain part in a car within minutes with ease. Very much a useful tool for the toolchest!

Well made and nicely finished. Really smooth and fine-grained ratchet action. Haven't had it long enough for an opinion on durability and I don't intend to test or use it to destruction. Firmly holds generic 1/4 bits as well as the double-ended flat bits and extensions by Leatherman. Does not work with Chapman bits, use Chapman's CM-13 ratchet for those. If using with flat Leatherman bits and the bit retention seems inconsistent, take a magnifying glass and strong light and look at the bit-holding detents just inside the entry end of the ratchet wheel. The detent wires are only on two opposing corners of the hex instead of all six making retention dependent on how the flat bit was aligned when inserted. That's fine for generic bits but a bit of a head-scratcher when the Leathermans keep falling out - but only sometimes. Overall a nice ratchet for working on small stuff and well worth the price.
