THE PREVIOUS STEERING BOX HAD A COTTER PIN TO HOLD THE CABLE IN THE BOX. THE CHEAP POT METAL HOLDING THE PIN WAS TOO CLOSE TO THE EDGE AND BROKE OUT. I REPLACED IT WITH THIS BOX AND USED THE BOLTS THAT FEED ALL THE WAY THROUGH TO HOLD THE CABLE IN THE HOUSING. THE PREVIOUS BOX FED FROM THE BOTTOM AND THIS ONE FED FROM THE TOP. HAD TO TAKE IT APART AND START OVER. PIECE OF CAKE!! WOULD PURCHASE AGAIN.

Good material, silky smooth turns. I would note that I can almost guarantee it won't fit your boat unless you buy the X34 adapter. Even comes with a woodruff key. Cheaper to just buy a kit, but if you only need the helm this is your best bet.

I installed this helm on my 2004 PT 175 Tracker. I also purchased a new cable, since the original cable is not compatible. The steering now feels like new.
