Great educational activity! Used during a 13-hour drive fleeing Irma--kept our 6.5 year old busy for close to two hours. Love the rings. One recommendation would be to perhaps print the word family part in a different color than the rest of the word, since this is the purpose of the cards.

These flashcards are great for quick learning. I used these cards in conjunction with the rest of the series as I taught English as a learned language and they helped with identifying sounds and families of letters, speeding up the learning process and ability to read.

This along with the learning resources pocket chart, dry erase boards and phonics dominoes have been a great combination of centers that have helped my kids grow as readers. We use cooperative learning where kids use white boards and reciprocal teach the words they know. Love these! Parents wish they had sets at home! Wish I had a grant to buy these for my 10 students to keep at home to practice nightly. A must have for any k, 1st or 2nd grade classroom! Hope this helps!

short vowel a, -ank, sank,bank, drank, blank, tank. WRONG. try it for yourself. it should be long vowel a. short vowel a, -ang, sang, clang, rang, hang, sprang. may get away with saying the short vowel sound for sang, clang, rang. few and stew do not same the same, stoo, foo? few sounds like true, hear the long u? not oo! what dialect are they using? is this Southern? anyone from the Southern state tell me if this is how these words are pronounced in your region? Actually, I don't care, it's confusing for me and my child. I learned using word families and recall it making sense. I can't use these cards cause I lost confidence in them. You need confidence to read, I'm not giving that to my kid with these cards. I should probably give 1 star. Other reviewers, were you paid for your reviews? honestly, I haven't even been through the whole deck and caught these errors, this is not five star product, three at best.

I'm tutoring an adult in reading and writing; he has a problem recognizing vowels and distinguishing their sounds. These cards are helping him quite a bit, recently inducing a couple of small breakthroughs (big for him!), and I expect that he'll have more as we continue to use these cards.
