Overall I would say this is a good product and worth the investment. It was easy to install for the most part. It does take some work to run power to the unit as well as connect the ducts. My main issue with the product, and the reason for only 4 stars, is that sometimes it gets stuck on and will run for hours until I flip the switch to shut it off. I connected it to a light switch near my crawl space entrance so I can shut it off via the switch. I am thinking about connecting that to a 3 way switch so I don't have to go into the crawl space every time I need to shut it off. I have had it happen twice. Not sure why it does this, but it does. But again, our clothes dry much quicker than before so it is worth the hassle for us. Definitely moves a lot of air. I am almost worried that it pulls too much air out of the dryer so it can't get as hot. The clothes don't feel hot when I open the drier, yet the clothes are dry so no worries I suppose.

the dryer duct from the previous owner was a flexible aluminum foil tube that had been snaked around numerous corners and bends. Installed actual vents and this dryer booster. Experience over the past month has been excellent. Comes on about a minute after the dryer starts and turns off a minute after. Seems to have shaved some drying time. I was a little nervous about the inline boosters and how effective they would be. This product seems like a hearty/beefy and high-quality solution. Installation was not difficult.

A few years ago I was shopping for a dryer booster fan and it came down to the Tjernlund and the Suncourt Centrasense. I ended up going with the Suncourt because it was less expensive, and I liked the fact that the sensor that starts the booster fan clips onto the 220 volt leads in the electric dryer and determines when the current is flowing and switches on and off within 15 seconds of the dryer starting and stopping. Read a lot of reviews that the Tjernlund's pressure sensing switch is finicky and error prone. HOWEVER, I went through 3 Suncourt's in 4 years! The fan blades were plastic and glued in, and inevitably they failed after 11 or 12 months. The company was great about honoring the warranty, but the 3rd unit they sent me was a refurbished one and was noisy from the start, and broke about 7 months in. I gave up on that brand, and decided to bite the bullet and pay the premium price for the Tjernlund. The install was basic, but could have used much clearer illustrations, and the written instructions seemed to be translated from another language. I was careful to check that the pressure sensor tube was not kinked or anything before installing. The calibration worked quickly, and the first couple of tests it ran smoothly, but on first load of actual laundry the fan did not shut off for about 3 minutes after the dryer stopped. The next couple of loads worked a little better, but I will be keeping a close eye on it, as I don't need the fan running for hours and overheating. Pros - fairly easy to install, and very quiet yet powerful. It is quieter than any of the Suncourt Centrasense fans we used. The lint handling advertised seems great. Cons - the sensor. Hope it works for the long run, and will shut off in less than 3 minutes after the dryer finishes.

Love the product, have a 35 foot run of dryer duct - checked the motor after a year, no lint at all. Nice side-effect, it also makes it much easier to access your dryer duct from the attic for cleaning. Really great product, worth the premium.

We have a very long dryer run, close to 35 feet 2 90 degree elbows, we were getting allot of lint below the drum and in the dryer vent. A technician came out because we were having an issue with the dryer not performing very well, he asked a few questions like what length is the dryer vent pipe? How many 90's / elbows are in the run? What is the vent pipe length allowed for your dryer? and a couple others. In my ignorance and probably from not reading the dryer manual I discovered that our vent run was too long and that was before accounting for the 90's. After doing some research I chose the Tjernlund duct booster because of the offset motor and reviews compared to the other booster motors. This was not an easy install (at least for me, and I am pretty handy) being in a cramped area of the attic and having to mount the unit inline with the pipe (which is at an upward angle and thru fire-break walls in the attic) was not the simplest thing to do. The 3/8" mounting nuts were not supplied with the unit (no biggie) so at first I used aluminum heat tape to mount everything then straps to secure in place, then went back and securely mounted using 2x4's and the mounting bracket. Running the indicator panel was also a pain as I had to run from attic down, had to go through multiple 2x4' stacked as it is a wall and had nails in it.... finally was able to get a long enough drill bit thru and snake the cable to eventually connect to panel. Fired the unit up and got the correct blinking lights. Has worked great, you can hear it if you listen for it, not so much when the dryer is running but it runs for about a minute (or two) after the dryer shuts off you can hear a little hum, not bad at all. I was lucky and had an easy access install. It took about 3 hours with minor reconfiguring of the vent duct. The laundry lady tells me dry time is about 30 faster. Which means 30 energy savings and less wear on the dryer. It is a little pricey but a worthwhile upgrade.
