Perfect for when I go for a walk in the woods or hunting. It's nice to have on hand also to show the kids how to read a map when you are out and about. Fit's nicely in your backpack and orientating your map is a breeze. This I would recommend.

I got this under the impression it was a waterproof map case. It is not. There are open grommets on the back that can allow water in and it includes some ziploc bags to make it 'waterproof'. Had I known I would be relying on a 30 cent ziploc bag anyway I would have just got that and not wasted the extra money here.If you just want something rugged to keep your maps from tearing in this would probably work great, but it will NOT keep them safe from weather. I hike in the pacific northwest all throughout the year and need my maps to stay dry.

I work in the plants, so really all I need is for the document to stay fairly clean while I'm in vessels or moving about in the units. However, the grommets are actually holes that water could easily get into. Now, they did send 2 ziplock bags to put papers into, but that isn't what this item implies. It implies weatherproof without aid and that isn't the case here. There are ways to have the item waterproof WITH the grommets.

The case has a grommet holes in the main compartment which allows water in and out. They provide you eith two zip lock baggies to keep maps/documents waterproof.

Not waterproof to grommets leave quarter inch holes in the material. You can see through the material which means water can get in. The zipper is not waterproof. However they do give you plastic bags to make your mouth waterproof.

This case lasted for less than one week of land navigation in decent weather. The buckle fell off within 24 hours and the clear plastic broke on the fourth day of use. This case will not survive the field.

Not water proof, has 2 grommet holes and material let's light thru and does look like would inhibit water at any level, it came with 2 ziplocks but they each have 2 holes in them, appears to be on purpose???? really is poor case, if your planning to use hiking or in weather.
