Bag is exactly as advertised, standard army od green color and cotton canvas For the price, you can't beat what you get. Classic medium Alice pack style bag. Main compartment is spacious and the three front pouches work great. If you are used to or want a pack like the gi issue Alice pack, this would be great. If you are used to or want a bag with alot of pouches and compartments to separate your stuff, this probly isn't for you. Can waterproof with regular camping waterproofing material's for a good all around pack.

I used to have this style of pack many years ago. My original one was army surplus and probably from the 80's. I loved that pack and traveled with it extensively, over about ten years. Eventually it was stolen from my tent when I was camping in Mexico back in 2009.I saw this and was hoping for something similar to what I remembered. This is similar in many ways, but it doesn't really compare to the real thing. This would be a good day pack or book bag. Would look cool with patches on it. Currently I use it to store camp stuff, kind of an extra bug out bag.I've not had the chance to wear this over an extended period, so I can't say how comfortable it would be. However, the straps are very thin and not padded, unlike the actual army version. The original one I used to have was super comfortable and I hiked many miles with it over rough terrain.I would not take this particular bag on a trip like that. It would probably lead to shoulder and back pain on the trail at best, and at worst might even fall apart under heavy use.For a kid though, this would be great, affordable option.

I really like this bag. I bought it to replace a Bundeswhr bag that I lost in a fire, and while the Rothco bag isn't quite as rugged the design is a classic. I agree that it could use ALICE straps, but it is comfortable and roomy.

Better then what I expected at this price, sturdy cotton material, not waterproof I'm sure but it doesn't claim to be. The only change (for the price) I'd make would be a carry handle on top so you could carry it like a duffel bag. I'm using it for a range bag, the pockets are perfect for A aRe style magazines.I would recommend to others!

Took me back to being a kid. Reminds me of the one my GI Joe had. The big figures. Works great for clothing and will be a beach, pool, and motorcycle pack for sure. I always have found canvas working best for the beach.

    This thing is just like the surplus one I had as a kid. It's big enough to fit all of my gear with room to spare. The metal clasps keep everything tight and secure from rain. The overlapping covers are great so you know nothing is going to fall out. The straps are wide and comfortable making this a great all around pack. If you can't fit it in here, you don't need it.

    I really like this bag. I was able to put at least 45 lbs of gear inside. The main compartment can hold a lot of items and still be able to close the top part. If you're a good organizer you'll be able to fit your gear but it depends on your gear too. I'll be purchasing another soon. I do recommend this bag for camping, hiking and bugging out if needed.

    I love the bag for the space and no BS compartments. JUST ONE BIG SPACE. I did however swap the main compartments straps to clips for easier access. I also added a chest strap I had from another bag. But aside from that I'm happy. It holds so much more and the side pockets are roomy. The overflap of the main compartments also allows you to strap in a small blanket and or jacket for easy access and no fold. Great bag overall.

    I bought this as a gift for my son's 18th birthday. He loved it. My only disappointment is that one of the metal end pieces on a strap fell off the day he opened it. It's easy to reapply with some glue, so just keep that in mind when buying. Overall, I would definitely recommend!
