A perfect replacement bottom element for my MR85245 water heaterThere are two caveats to this item that all buyers should be aware ofFirst this takes a 1-78 socket to install -- and that stands in contrast the a great majority of water heater element wrenches that are 1-12Second this element is a fair bit shorter than the element it is replacing; however this is the correct replacement part they phased out the older longer model in previous years So far Im happy to report that this has been working without incident All and all I couldnt be happier with this lower element replacementOn a final note for electric heaters like mine heres how you can tell which element needs replacing: if you get a few minutes of hot water then the lower element needs replacing If you get no hot water at all or it takes like five minutes to get to warm water then the top element needs replacing Apparently electric water heaters draw from the top tank first each element has its own tank it seems) and the lower tank second; this can save you a lot of trouble when youre trying to figure out what went wrong and it saved me a service call Im not the least bit handy but this is a simple repair that most anyone can do
