I did some research and this shot put was the correct size used in my Middle School son's track meets in Texas. My daughter's was a little lighter but she practiced with these, and I believe these are the size she will use in high school. They work great! I do recommend looking into some type of bag to hold them as well as my kids didn't want to put them in their backpacks.
