Another popular design by Paul Carmody, the Amiga 2-way tower kit has a small footprint but produces a big sound. This kit has become known as a boutique Hi-Fi killer. This kit is ideal for woodworkers, the baffle is precut for the drivers, you just build the enclosure. This kit includes parts to build a single speaker: a pre-cut front baffle, drivers, crossover components, and damping material.

Amiga MT Tower Speaker Kit with Baffle Only
Basically, if you like the , then you'll like the Amigas. The tonal balance is similar with slightly relaxed voicing to allow for long listening sessions without fatigue. However, the quality of the drivers will definitely highlight finer details in any recording. The imaging creates a wide soundstage, as a quality monopole speaker should, with a very tight center image, and sounds seeming to appear around and behind the speakers. The bass extension should definitely surprise; with an F3 of 34 Hz, there is a good chance you can leave the subwoofer turned off for most purposes. The overall sound is big, it is a 2-way that produces like a 3-way.
The drivers for the Amiga's were chosen for their low distortion and accuracy. The 7" aluminum cone woofer handles frequencies below 2,000 Hz with precision and authority. For the top few octaves Paul chose the 1" silk dome tweeter for its low Fs and smooth response.
This kit is ideal for any novice woodworker. The enclosure is very easy to build, you only need to create a 8" W x 34" H x 10-1/4" D box and attach the precut baffle. The solid 3/4" MDF baffle is CNC milled to tight tolerances. Recesses for flush mounting the drivers are pre-cut making assembly a snap.
This kit includes nearly everything you need to build a top-notch speaker in no time flat, including: a precut baffle, drivers, port, damping material, and crossover components.
