Tested antenna straight out of the box and SWR was 1.01 on 462MHz and 467MHz both. Impressive!

Probably the best quality mobile GMRS antenna you can buy. I have tried others with poor results. SWR was right on. TX and RX results have been spectacular. As our friend in the GMRS community says, It will talks many many FARS.

SWR was nearly perfect across the band. Not too tall and it's not obtrusive. Solid contact with local repeaters. The one I have also shows low SWR in the UHF ham band which I'll use it for also.I'm a very happy camper.

No tuning needed. 1.05 SWR on channel 16 as recommended. 1.77 SWR on repeater input. Can't get any better than that.

This antenna works fine. I get good range from it and the SWR is very good on the GMRS band. The only negative is that the black paint they use doesn't hold up well to Florida's climate. Cosmetically, the antenna doesn't look so good after the paint comes off but it still works and to me it's not a big deal. To some it may be a deal breaker if they're picky about cosmetics. If Midland used a better paint on the antenna I would have given it a 5 star all the way.

Overall, awesome antenna. I have no complaints about its performance. My issue is the little rubber piece on the end, seems to fall off after a while. This is my second antenna. Could have been a fluke but who knows. Overall, amazing antenna and swr is usually 1.00 on repeaters and 1.01 to 1.04 on simplex

I totally like the antenna since I had to order it two times, first one never came, got lost they said, or maybe someone has a new antenna free to them

I installed this in my Tacoma's bed rack (Yakima HD Bars) on a Midland roll bar mount attached to a Midland 6m cable with an NMO connection and UHF connection. I ended up using half of the roll bar mount to attach to the T-slot on my Roadshower. This gets the ground plane above everything else on the rack. The cable is cleanly routed under the truck in the frame rail and penetrates into the cab via an existing grommet for a wire loom. I have it hooked up to a MXT275.I tested the antenna out-of-the-box on my MFJ884 and it has a SWR of 1.1 on 462.575MHz with the MXT275 putting out about 13W.I can clearly receive and transmit to the repeater that is about 30 miles away, and I am able to pick up simplex FRS signals from over 4 miles away. The receive gain is listed as 6dB but they do not specify dBi or dBd. They are likely referencing dBi and not dBd since dBi would yield a higher number for the marketing folks. At 13W I would be legal with 6dBd or 6dBi, but they really should list the actual unit when advertising the gain. (from FCC.gov: If an antenna gain is just specified in dB from a manufacturer, be sure to ask if it is dBi or dBd. If they cannot tell you or do not know the difference, then you should consider buying from another vendor!)If my radio was to output 15W (like advertised) the ERP would be about 10W over the limit for GMRS if this was 6dBd gain. Units are important.Overall I am happy with this antenna and how it performs. They should definitely be more specific with their gain specs.
