This tool made fitment of cut exhaust piping much easier to do. The integral inner drive rod does not seem to be tempered/hardened, and it is bulging/deformed a bit after hammering it during the build of a dual exhaust system, otherwise I would give this tool a five star rating. For the price, this tool is a definite good buy.

This product is quite simplistic but serves an important purpose. If you have a damaged end to a tube you can use it to return the size to round without enlarging the diameter. The issue I have with the tool as other reviews have noted is that it's a very rough cast. This causes edges to catch and makes it less than desirable when using on delicate pieces. I bought the unit to do some repairs to my stainless steel motorcycle exhaust which is very thin wall and extremely expensive. Much like I figured it didn't really return the pipe end to round, and it also caused the ends to flare so I had to use the other end of the tool to try and remove the flare. It probably works well for non stainless steel applications but then so would a hammer. In my opinion it gives you a starting point but in the end I just used pliers and worked the tube until it was round again. The cost is decent however and personally it would take a while to fabricate a better one on a lathe so for the price it's still nice to have. If your planning on returning badly damaged ends to new I say good luck. I'd your using it to get out of a bind or plan on doing some finishing with a hammer and dolly or other means after then it's worth the price.

This tool does exactly what it is supposed to do, which is re-form a thin-wall pipe's edge. It is quite heavy and sturdy. Nothing much to it, just a conical piece of steel with a thick stem inside that you hit with a hammer. I used a small sledge hammer and really whacked it good to get the pipe metal to bend. Works great.
