Local HVAC contractors wanted average of $1000 for installation. I was replacing a Tru Steam so all the hookups were already there. Took me around 2 hours. $500 an hour savings isn't bad.

Compact quality Honeywell steam humidifier for cramped utility closet. Set at 35, the air is not too dry.

The humidstat that came with it has automatic setting adjustments I you used the outdoor temperature device. I set it up to run independently of my Lenox controls by adding the honeyell high/low pressure sensor and setting my fan to run 30 minutes each hour. It is running on 110v and seemed to work well all winter.

I previously had a Honeywell TrueSteam which lasted about 6 years. I installed the new Electrode Steam Humidifier in about 3 hours because it fit in the hole of the TrueSteam. It's been installed 5 months and it runs like a dream. The HVAC people wanted $4200 to $4600 which included install. I bought it between $650 and $700 and saved a ton of money. So far I'm very happy with this product. It works like a dream

Only install if you are a seasoned DYI-r with mechanical, electrical, controls and plumbing experience. So far I am very impressed with the unit. It is compact and takes care of itself once it is up and running. I did not install the exterior TC. I have experience using industrial boilers to humidify large environmental test chambers and always wanted to move from cold to steam injected humidifier in my home as steam is best. 240Vac GF breaker and pressure switch interlock will add cost as these are not included because of the multiple control and electrical distro box options driven by user specific interfaces and desire. Jan-Mar 22 will tell for sure if I went the right path but for now very happy with the install outcome and operation of the system.

If you are looking to replace your old Honeywell TrueSteam humidifier with this one, you don't have to choose just this one. I bought this because of reviews that said it is an easy compatible upgrade. It is not.Plus:1. The new disposable water canister will keep salt from water sealed and your installed area clean. Cleaning is not an issue anymore.2. Generally, whole house steam humidifiers are more efficient. Humidifying your house reduces static shocks, helps you feel warmer at lower temperatures and good for the skin and eyes. Specifically, in winters. I'll be using the humidifier for the first time this winter.Minus:1. The water canister needs to be replaced every year and could cost above $70. Cost, adding to landfills are a definite minus.2. The unit does not come with a backflow preventer or valve for the water intake. You can get a basic one for under $10 in your local hardware shop. The unit should come with one though.3. The unit comes with a humidistat. The return vent has to be drilled into and the sensor placed in it for proper working. The humidifier can only be controlled locally, unless you already have a compatible thermostat/wiring. I had to upgrade to Aprilaire_8920 system for long term compatibility.

It's only a weeks' use so far, but I also put a humidity meter in the kitchen, and this humidifier seems to have raised the house humidity to the level I wished, which is considerably higher than outdoors right now. It was installed by a heating contractor; it took several hours. I consider it great value for the money.

Very easy to install if you enjoy DIY projects. I would recommend 240V, as it can push out significantly more steam and shorten the run time. I upgraded from an older truSteam HM509. Loads better. I have only had it for this winter, so I cannot compare longevity..but it got my house to the humidity set point in a day. Then it ran sporadically to keep it there. I did the 240V install myself. I added a fused cutoff and hardwired it to it. Makes it easy to shutoff and summer-ize it. Other than the first day or two, it did not increase my electricity bill by much at all. My old TruSteam had to run continuously and never got things to the set point.

Replaced an older Honeywell TrueSteam with this unit. Easy installation and wiring. Integrated with an IAQ Pro thermostat/humidistat and EIM interface. Works seamlessly and controls more precisely than the TrueSteam ever did.Appears that electrical energy usage is about 25 less. Wired it for 230 VAC, which is a nice option, since the True?Steam only was available for 120 VAC at teh time I purchased it.

Better product and a direct swap out, wire for wire. But, the hose connections are a different size the included hoses are an easy change. Far more steam!

Very happy with my open box deal on this humidifier. In Western WA so not a lot of prolonged cold and dry but this past winter no issues keeping my 3,000sf house at the desired humidity even on 110v. Appreciate the fact that my communicating Thermostat can control this unit with a very simple plug and play connection to the Furnace control board. Unit auto drains in off season (summer). Now just curious how long the cylinder will last.
